1972-ben egy Misaki nevű tanuló járt az Északi Yomiyama Általános Iskola kilencedik évfolyamának hármas osztályába. A fiú nagy népszerűségnek örvendett az osztályában, egyaránt szerették a diákok és a tanárok is. Szinte mintatanulónak számított, aki még a sportokban is kiválóan teljesített. De nem sokkal azután, hogy elkezdte a kilencediket, meghalt. A tragédia híre mindenkit sokkolt. Viszont egyszer csak valaki azt mondta a fiú székére mutatva, hogy Misaki itt van, nem halt meg. Attól a naptól fogva a hármas osztály úgy viselkedett, mintha elhunyt osztálytársuk még mindig élne. Ezt a színjátékot egészen ballagásig folytatták. Az igazgató még azt is elrendezte, hogy Misakinak is legyen széke a ballagási ceremónián. Ám ezzel a szerencsétlenséggel nem is gondolták, mi vette kezdetét...

Tsubasa Ohzora mindene a futball. 2 éves kora óta erősen kötődik hozzá, hiszen az életét mentette meg (és nem is akárhogy! XDD). Azóta ő akar lenni a világ lejobb focistája. Édesanyjával Nankatsu-ba költöznek, miközben apja, mint híres kapitány, a tengeren hajózik. Nyekkhez a mókában barátai is csatlakoznak: Cápi a szomszéd véreb, aki feleakkora mint ő, de a fogai olyanok, mint a láncfűrész vagy igaz szerelme Annabelle, aki habár négyszer akkora, mint Nyekk, rózsaszín tüllszoknyában és magassarkúban parádézik. Jószándékú, alapjában véve szerencsétlen, de bátor macsek Nyekk, kinek sokszor az esze helyett a szíve diktál.

A Dragon Ball GT a Dragon Ball Z nem hivatalos folytatása volt, mivel nem manga alapján készült. Azóta pedig beékelődött a két sorozat közé a "Dragon Ball: Super" sorozat. A GT a címben jelenthet Grand Tourt (Nagyszerű utazás) (az amerikai FUNimation használta), de jelenthet Galaxy Touringot (Utazás a galaxisban), Great Touringot (Nagy utazás) és esetleg Gran Turismo-t is. Ezek a címek azért merültek fel, mert a sorozatot eredetileg egy űrtúraként képzelték el, melyben a főszereplők utazgatnak. A GT jelentése csak a japán eredeti jelentéstől függ. Ez az egyetlen Dragon Ball sorozat, amely nem Toriyama Akira mangájának eseményein alapszik.
